Vintage Find: Art Easel

My sweet husband suprised me with a Alexander Art Easel he bought from a local artist.  He knew I needed a new one from the ocassional crash and exclamations that came out of our sunroom when I would press too hard on a cheapo $10 easel (there are even a few canvases where you can see a smudge of a thumbprint as I was try to catch it before it hit the ground).  The new one has a great side table to hold brushes and palettes and I love the little cubby on the front. We set it up in the corner of the sunroom and I am already given it a test run.

Vintage Bridge Set

I was doing a small bit of spring cleaning this weekend and stumbled upon this vintage bridge set that belonged to my great Aunt. The Ace and Joker card illustrations really caught my eye.  I decided not to toss them out in hopes that I will learn to play some day.

Saturday Morning in Canton

CantonFinds-Tray and mugs

CantonFinds-owl napking holder

My sister-in-law and I hit the road at 7:30 am this past Saturday morning for a trip down to Canton for their monthly flea market. Come to find out, however I had the wrong dates (it was next weekend). Instead of returning home empty handed we decided to see what downtown Canton had to offer. We were pleasantly surprised. With its quaint shops and antique stores, it was like a smaller version of the flea market. In one antique store I found this beautiful flower tray, orange colored loaf baker, vintage coffee mugs, and quirky resin owl napkin holder – all for around $30. Further down the road was a Fiestaware store that carried 1st quality and 2nd quality pieces. Being the deal addict that I am I shopped in the 2nd quality pieces where the prices were really discounted. I couldn’t pass up the blue and red gusto bowls and large grey serving bowl.
All in all it was a great trip and am looking forward visiting downtown Canton,TX again.
